- We are interested in buying a 28.8 modem for use with a Power Macintosh
- 7500. This modem will be used for remote login to a unix system, at first
- via the usual text only mode and soon thereafter by PPP. We also need the
- modem to support Apple Remote Access 2.0. Faxes are relatively
- unimportant. We are looking at the Global Village Teleport Platinum, the
- Supra28.8 (the good one) and a US Robotics Sportster.
-
- We are particularly interested in how dependable these three are for PPP,
- Zmodem and ARA. ARA is a must. We have noticed that not all manufacturers
- supply ARA scripts with their modems, and would like to be sure that a
- modem would work for this purpose before we buy it. (I have a GV TP
- Platinum. It works for all of this stuff, but I am not thrilled with its
- dependability or stability on the line.)
-
- Please let me know if you had to buy a special hardware handshaking cable
- for yours. Thanks!
